Testimonies and Stories of Hope

  • Anna's Story

Watch and listen to this testimony from “Anna” and her journey to leaving an abusive marriage. During her journey a former student of Ron Clark suggested she read Setting the Captives Free. Hear in her own words how her faith, God, and this resource has helped her.

I’m a lawyer for a nonprofit organization serving low-income Oregonians.  Dr. Clark has been an invaluable support to my clients.  He has offered his time providing resources to a client who had been experiencing abuse and who needed a safe spiritual support.  He has also provided his time and expertise as an expert witness for a restraining order case.  Dr. Clark is an amazing speaker and offered a training for the local bench and bar.  Through his work, he helped attorneys and judges better understand the dynamics of intimate parnter violence.  Thank you, Dr. Clark, for all your work to help support my clients!  You are an absolute asset to our community, and a gem of a human being!

  • Cody, Pastor and Cohort Member

As someone who has been heavily engaged in national research, I can state with confidence that Agape Community Ministries is the premier expert on theological scholarship relating to the issue of domestic violence. And this exceptionalism expands to Agape Community Ministries. Agape’s integration and acceptance by multiple Oregon domestic violence coalitions is unparalleled. The already limited faith-based programs throughout the United States that are engaged in this work simply do not share the same level of collaborative competency that Agape has demonstrated. If resourced, I truly believe Agape Community Ministries and the IPV Cohort will make a national impact for the Christian Church. Because of Agape, there will be pastors who are championing cultures which reject violence and heal the wounded. I believe the scope of that impact is only limited by resources – please, give generously!
